The Blood Knot Shiraz is a single vineyard wine from the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale. The elevated sub-region deep sands produce wines of lifted fragrance, vibrant sweet fruit intensity and savory tannin profiles. 280 cases produced

Sourced from a single dry grown Blewitt Springs vineyard planted in 1995. Open fermented with twice daily hand plunging until dry on skins with one week extended skin contact. Pressed to 20 % new and balanced to 3 & 4 year old demi- muids and puncheons for 12 months of oak maturation. Whole bunch inclusion into the ferments and extended lees contact were both used to in a minor role to add further complexity.

The colour vivid bright red with purple flashes. Complex and brooding, displaying layers of rich sweet plum and fresh ripe dark cherry with savoury notes of smoked meats & freshly tilled soil. A fine balance between sweet fruit aromatics and savoury interest.

The palate, sweet ripe fruits together with fine tannin structure result in a wine of balance and weight. Satsuma plum, dark chocolate and complexing cedar notes provide a palate of great interest.

Great with grilled lamb fillet.

Enjoy now but will reward cellaring in appropriate conditions for 8+ years.
